Question about chosing camera- Real Sense or Kinect 2 for more accurate point cloud

Iga
Hello everybody,
I am thinking about buying a stereo camera sensor for 3d data aquisition of point cloud, for 3d architectural documentation experiments.

I would like to ask which sensor is giving more accurate results, Real Sense 435 or Kinect 2?
Kinect 2, is apart from other thechnical characteristics, a bit wider as I understand, so might it give better stero results ? Real sense is also using IR so this is an advantage I think for darker areas ?

Colour is also needed. Zed I think is not an option because it has no colour information.

Thank you all.

After some more reading, maybe Real Sense L515 is better than both ?

Thank you

If 3D reconstruction accuracy is a requirement, I would stay away from stereo cameras (e.g., realsense D400, T265, zed, mynteye, ...).

Kinect v2 is quite bulky and calibration would be required, I would recommend the Azure Kinect DK instead. L515 could be also another option, but I've never tried it myself (though we have some sync issues with it depending on the realsense firmware used).

cheers,
Mathieu
