Obstacle Avoidance during map construction.

Hello Sir,I am new to ROS.Currently I am able to do mapping and localization using rgbd_mapping.launch.Results are excellent but I am stuck here.I want to do obstacle avoidance even when my robot is making the map but tutorials seems to confuse me.I will be very thankful if you can guide me from here.
