I think it is that, the sensor is a bit tilted. However it can be also the case that it (camera) is somehow in a higher or lower position than the software thinks it is and part of it collapses with the floor. Actually if I see the color spectrum with one of my cameras it looks like it is like a bit mixed with the floor (I will edit this post later with some pictures). Meanwhile I will also try to run the node separatedly as you said.
For the ray tracing it is actually that, I found that post previously and it looks like it is fixed with the param "map_negative_poses_ignored" or, at least, does not map a circular space behind the robot. Again i will post a picture later on.
